Avocado or “Pears or Zaboka” as it is commonly called throughout the Caribbean islands, are actually berries. The name Avocado originated from ancient Aztecs, a name which was used for centuries. It is also known as the Alligator Pear. This fruit has been cultivated since 900 A.D., it is native to the Caribbean islands, Central America, and Parts of Mexico. There are many varieties of avocados grown throughout the Caribbean Islands, most of which are much bigger in size as compared to Haas Avocados which is more commonly known in the US and Mexico.
